Exhibitor of quality Boxers
I'm Gemma Anne Stockton and I'm from the Isle of Man.
I've been into showing for some time and started to show my own dogs in 2003.
Before this I helped out Virginia Dowty & her daughter Tanya Mackrell, and still do, with their Clynymona/BombixMoren Bolognese & Australian Silky Terrier's.
I help in various ways from handling, grooming, transporting, walking, prepping and exchanging dogs from class to class plus anything else needed.
I'm very grateful to Gini as being a helper has given me the opportunity to watch & learn many things over the years.
Our first boxer was Tyke (original hey) mum and dad saw him at our MSPCA(manx version of RSPCA) and brought him home that day, sadly he died at the age 8. It broke my 10 year old heart and the thought of another boxer wasn't even on the cards. 8 years later, 2 weeks before my 18th I saw an add for a litter of boxer puppies and called straight away, from that came MY first boxer - Roxy and my love for boxers and showing them.
From Roxy's breeder I met my good friend Tanya Davies who we bought Ty off - Ty damaged his cruciate at 4 months old, he's fully recovered now and happily lives with my mum and dad.
After some research and alot of sitting round the rings at Champ shows I realised that my boxers were nothing like the one's being shown at championship level. I'd found the type I wanted and by this time my handling had improved so I decided to find a puppy from the lines/type I liked.
Boxers have always been in my family which I've always assumed as pets but recently I found an old photo of my dad, as a baby, with a boxer sat on benches at a show.
Apparently my granddad use to show boxers, obviously then onwards all my family have loved the breed.
I'm currently trying to find out the names of the dogs my granddad use to show.............if you have any info about a Mr Stockton showing Boxers in Crewe around the early-mid 50's let me know.
My timing couldn't of been any worse as the tail docking ban had come into force & many breeders were hanging on to their last docked litters, however I was quite particular about the lines I wanted and wasn't happy to accept just anything that was docked! So contacted Mandy Laidlaw (Roamaro) who put me in contact with Margaret Cook (Emjaycee)
Margaret has used Mandy's dog "Roamaro Captain Pugwash" on "Emjaycee Country Classic" who is a "CH Roamaro Holy Smoke" daughter which was just perfect, and this is how I got my first show dog - Razzle.
Razzle has tought me so much and has helped me develop my handling skills, he is a pleasure to show, he always gives 100% and aims to please me at every show.
